Frontline - Black Money

What is black money? There is a little saying "money is power" and for some individuals and corporations this is taken literally; with bribes, blackmail and other shady dealings going on between the private sector and the public sector. Essentially we are talking about corruption and graft; a sinister problem that creates deep inefficiencies and perverts due process and undermines democracy and fair rule. These days there is increasing scrutiny on corruption, and harsh new regulations to punish those who indulge in these practices.

As the global financial downturn continues and pressure for profits increases on corporations across the world, a small group of lawyers in the U.S. Justice Department is pursuing an aggressive crackdown against an international business tactic -- bribery -- which the World Bank says amounts to as much as a trillion dollars a year in payments.

  1. Greed is the root of evil! I cannot understand why one needs more $ than they could ever use or spend! Why do big companies brag about profits for CEOs and yet do not spend more of it to benefit the little people that got it for them? Instead they cut more from them! More work less benefit! The other evil is technology! I saw a road crew working a machine took place of flagman! Job elimanated!! Talk to machine not person! Job elimanated! When will it end? Will computers tell you when and how to live? Machines are cheaper than manpower but ultimately need man to keep them running. When a corporation stops reinvesting in humans it will die! Corporations need to keep balance as to keep it from falling! They might be on top now but the truth is; is there a strong foundation under it? I hope there will be more corporations left to take care of their foundations before there is more useless building materials left to rot!!
